How did the geography of Ancient India affect resources and trade. What resources did they have. Some of the fascinating things about Ancient India are that it is a subcontinent of Asia, it is bordered by the world's largest mountains, and the rivers flooded each year. There was much hard terrain but when the rivers flooded they brought up fertile soil. There were many mountains, rivers, plains, and deserts. They used camels, oxen, elephants, and wooden carts. Some of the things they grew where barely, peas, melons, wheat, and dates.
How did the landscape affect trade? The indians traded with China, Rome, Egypt, and Mesopotamia. They traded grain, spices, and livestock. They also traded many minerals. For trade they need transportation this is where the chariots, bullock carts, and palanquins. Bullock carts were the most common but the rich used palanquins. Bullock carts were simple wooden carts so it makes sense that they were common for travel.
What war or conflict did Ancient India have. Often there was war and feuds between the states. The importance of an army was realized in the beginning of Ancient India. Most armies were 4 part armies. They kept a strong force even if there was no current wars because war sometimes came out of nowhere. The Gupta Empire invented the steel bow because it proved better than the standard bamboo longbow.
